Glen Mills Course
Glen Mills, PA, USA

Built on the grounds of the former Glen Mills Schools, The Golf Course at Glen Mills represents a redemptive reclaiming of the landscape. This links-style design, carved from the rolling hills of Delaware County, presents a unique challenge with its undulating fairways and strategically placed fescue roughs. The open terrain favors a strategic, ground-game approach, rewarding players who can navigate the wind and undulations. Errant shots, however, can quickly disappear into the penal grasses. While not designed by a celebrated architect, the course has become a beloved local haunt. Originally designed by an unconfirmed prison inmate, it has a charm of its own. It plays host to numerous local tournaments, solidifying its role as a cornerstone of the southeastern Pennsylvania golf community. The Golf Course at Glen Mills cultivates a welcoming atmosphere that embraces golfers of all skill levels. It's a place where the spirit of the game takes precedence over pretense. The clubhouse grill is known for its simple, honest fare, mirroring the course's unpretentious character.

Golfers say Glen Mills offers impressive variety and engaging hole designs, with many praising the front nine as near-perfect and highlighting memorable holes like the 8th and 15th for their fun contouring and strong green complexes. Most consider it one of the best public options in the Philadelphia area and worth the premium green fee, though some find the closing holes weaker than the rest of the property. Reviewers note that while the setting is beautiful and staff are friendly, conditioning doesn't always match the course's reputation, and a few golfers find the design gimmicky with too many blind shots and overly contoured greens that slow pace of play.

My personal favorite PA public course.
Very pretty area. Staff all very nice. Course itself felt a bit gimmicky. Lots of blind shots and circus greens. Pace of play was not great
One of the best public tracks in the Philly area glen mills has it all. Incredible variety of holes, fun contouring, and great green complexes. One of the few public tracks worth $100 Glenn guarantees to be engaging throughout. While 17 and 18 may be considered the weakest part of the property the front 9 is near perfect and holes like 8 and 15 never get old. If you arnt lucky enough to get on one of the many Philly elite private tracks Glenn mills should be your first public option.
Overrated. Go to jeffersonville
