Incredible course. If they named the 9’s it’d be Links & Forest. Greens are magnificent but deadly - without a caddy you are toast. Have to know where to miss on each approach

Very cool course that starts in the trees for 3 holes before opening up the rest of the way. Very hilly course with some very cool views. Par 5 9th and Par 3 17th are the best holes in my opinion.

Rockaway is a real old school course that is usually kept in pretty good shape. Layout isn’t the best, a bit repeatable and a really crammed back 9. It’s a solid course, but definitely has had the modern game pass it by a bit.

Can see right away why it’s rated the best public in NJ. Great pro shop. Course is challenging but fair. Course is always in great condition. It’s on the pricier side but well worth the money if you want to treat yourself for the day.

How we rank
This ranking uses each golfer’s conditions rating, on a 0.5–5 scale. Conditions is the golfer’s overall conditions score, or the average of their greens, fairways, tee box, and bunker scores when no overall was given. Every golfer counts once per course: repeat rounds are averaged first, then the course score is the average across golfers. A course needs conditions ratings from at least 5 different golfers. Ties go to the course with more golfers, then the higher Course Vaults score. Only open courses with a published Course Vaults score (at least 5 explicit ratings) are eligible, and a page is published only when at least 5 courses qualify. City pages include courses within about 25 miles of Sparta, so nearby suburbs can appear. Rankings refresh about hourly.
