Not a weak hole on the course. Tests the whole bag. Rewards great shots and punishes poor ones. Tillinghast at his best. Club vibe is relaxed and down to earth, and our host was delightful.

A take people won’t like….if the rough isn’t at your shins and you are a halfway decent putter, it’s not that hard. I’m a mid single digit and shot 79 with a soul shaking hozel rocket on 9.

From tee to green, one cannot help being captured by the traditional and yet interesting design and routing, as well as the varied topography. The course is difficult and challenging, especially the greens, but not unfair.

The greens are almost as good as the West (which might be the best set of greens in America). I really wish the next time they held a USGA championship there, they would do a composite between the two courses. The land is also better than West.

How we rank
This ranking uses each golfer’s conditions rating, on a 0.5–5 scale. Conditions is the golfer’s overall conditions score, or the average of their greens, fairways, tee box, and bunker scores when no overall was given. Every golfer counts once per course: repeat rounds are averaged first, then the course score is the average across golfers. A course needs conditions ratings from at least 5 different golfers. Ties go to the course with more golfers, then the higher Course Vaults score. Only open courses with a published Course Vaults score (at least 5 explicit ratings) are eligible, and a page is published only when at least 5 courses qualify. City pages include courses within about 25 miles of Jersey City, so nearby suburbs can appear. Rankings refresh about hourly.
