Wallasey Golf Club

Wallasey occupies a distinctive stretch of linksland on the Wirral Peninsula, positioned between the Dee and Mersey estuaries with views across to Liverpool and the Welsh coast. The club was established in 1891, with Old Tom Morris laying out the original course. Subsequent revisions came from James Braid in the early twentieth century, while Donald Steel and Martin Hawtree have contributed more recent refinements that respect the natural duneland character of the property. The routing moves through classic linksland terrain characterized by undulating fairways, deep pot bunkers, and firm turf that rewards ground game strategy. The course runs close to the shore in places, exposing players to prevailing winds that can dramatically alter club selection and shot-making demands from one round to the next. Wallasey has hosted numerous regional and national amateur championships, including multiple English Amateur Championships and the British Ladies Amateur.
