Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club

Royal Cinque Ports occupies a narrow strip of linksland between the town of Deal and the sea on England's southeast coast. The club was founded in 1892, with the original layout shaped by the members themselves before various architects contributed refinements over subsequent decades. James Braid made alterations in the 1920s, Henry Cotton worked on the course in the 1940s, and Sir Guy Campbell was involved in post-war restoration work. More recently, Donald Steel has advised on course changes. The links runs out and back along the shore, with the outward nine heading south and the return nine coming back north. The course sits on relatively flat duneland, though the ground features enough movement and natural contours to create strategic interest.
