Truro Golf Club

Truro Golf Club sits on elevated moorland above the cathedral city of Truro in Cornwall, approximately three miles from the city center. The course was designed by Harry S. Colt and opened in 1937, with later modifications by C. H. Alison and J.S.F. Morrison. The layout occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the Cornish interior, offering views across the surrounding countryside and, on clear days, glimpses toward both the north and south coasts of the peninsula. The course measures just over 6,000 yards from the back tees and plays as a parkland layout with moorland influences. The routing makes use of natural elevation changes and features gorse, heather, and mature trees that frame many holes. Several holes require accurate placement off the tee to navigate the undulating fairways and avoid the native rough that borders the playing corridors. The greens are typically well-contoured, reflecting Colt's design principles of strategic interest without excessive difficulty. Truro serves as the primary golf facility for the city and surrounding area, maintaining a traditional members' club atmosphere while welcoming visitors. The clubhouse occupies a prominent position on the property with views over the course and the Truro valley. The club has hosted regional amateur competitions and county championships over the decades, contributing to Cornwall's modest but enduring golf culture in the far southwest of England.
