PLUM HOLLOW COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Southfield, MI, USA
Designed by C. H. Alison, Harry S. Colt

Plum Hollow, woven into the fabric of Southfield, Michigan, is a testament to enduring Midwestern golf. Its heritage reflects a bygone era when course design emphasized strategic play over sheer length.
Crafted in the Golden Age, Plum Hollow presents a parkland style, defined by mature trees and subtly rolling terrain. Its defining characteristics are its challenging greens complexes and carefully positioned bunkers that dictate approach shots. Favoring a strategic player, the course rewards thoughtful course management and shot placement, especially into some of the course's most memorable and unique par 3's.
Designed by Harry S. Colt and Donald Ross, Plum Hollow has seen subtle enhancements over the years by Jerry Matthews. The course has been home to the 1947 PGA Championship won by Jim Ferrier, as well as the Western Amateur and Michigan Amateur Championships. While not nationally recognized among the game's elite layouts, it remains a revered test within the region.
Plum Hollow's legacy is tied to its members; captains of industry and pillars of the Detroit community. The Club is known for it’s unpretentious atmosphere and convivial membership where the camaraderie extends beyond the course. The halfway house is celebrated for a delectable coney dog, a nod to the region's culinary tradition.
Reviews
Course is really excellent after the renovation a couple years ago. Good variety of holes, greens are always great. Still some things that could be changed to make it even better but great as it is. Outside of the course the club is just fine, but if you’re in it for the golf, it’s a great place.
Grandpas home course in his final years. Haven’t played it in a while, from what I remember the course is beautiful, in a rough area of Detroit though.
