Franklin Hills Course
Franklin, MI, USA

Franklin Hills Country Club, nestled in the verdant landscape of Franklin, Michigan, whispers of a bygone era when golf course architecture was as much art as sport. The course, routed through rolling terrain punctuated by mature hardwoods, presents a classic parkland challenge where strategic play trumps sheer power. The greens are often guarded by subtle undulations, and well-placed bunkers place a premium on approach shots. Designed by Donald Ross, Franklin Hills bears the hallmarks of his genius: natural contours, strategic bunkering, and greens that demand a deft touch. While not as celebrated on a national scale as some of Ross's more famous designs, its membership takes pride in its well-preserved, classic layout. The course is known to reward those who can work the ball, the doglegs testing a player's ability to shape shots. Beyond the course, Franklin Hills fosters a close-knit community, with a membership drawn from the surrounding suburbs of Detroit. Tradition runs deep here, from the club's long-standing member-guest tournament to the unwritten rules that govern play. While lacking the national championship pedigree of some of its peers, Franklin Hills offers a respite from the modern world, a place where the spirit of the game endures.

Very fun / strategic layout. Lots of strategically placed bunkers and exceptional set of greens. Good hole variety and some of the best conditions I have played on. Super playable and courses uses the gently rolling property nicely - a lot of slightly elevated tee shots. Volcanoe hole (13) is so much fun - green is TINY. Very hard sub-300 yard par 4. Wonderful club - hope to be back.
