Liberty Hill Course
Lafayette Hill, PA, USA

Union League Liberty Hill occupies rolling terrain in Lafayette Hill, a suburb northwest of Philadelphia in Montgomery County. Designed by Gary Player and opened in the early 1990s, the course was developed as a country retreat for members of the Union League of Philadelphia, one of the city's oldest and most prominent private clubs, founded in 1862 to support the Union cause during the Civil War. The Liberty Hill property extends the League's tradition into the suburban landscape, providing a golf-centered complement to its historic Center City clubhouse. The routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes characteristic of the region's piedmont topography, with holes moving through wooded corridors and across open meadows. Player's design incorporates his signature emphasis on strategic bunkering and green complexes that reward precision, particularly on approach shots. The course demands accurate iron play and thoughtful course management rather than overwhelming length, fitting the rolling land without excessive earthmoving. The club maintains the Union League's long-standing culture of civic engagement and tradition, drawing membership from Philadelphia's business and professional communities. Liberty Hill serves as a family-oriented golf facility within the broader Union League organization, offering a more relaxed country club atmosphere than the formal downtown setting. The property includes practice facilities and dining amenities that support member golf and social activities throughout the season.

Course is nice and conditions are pure. It’s a challenging but fun/interesting play, with typical PA rolling terrain that requires placement off the tee even tho it’s wide open at times. However, the club experience is the highlight. Caddy was fantastic. Great locker room, halfway house, patio for post round drinks, service, etc.
Great topography. Stupid greens.
