Gary Player

Gary Player is a South African retired professional golfer widely regarded as one of the sport's all-time greats. Born in 1935, Player won more than 160 professional tournaments on six continents over his career, including nine major championships. He became the first non-American to complete the career grand slam when he won the 1965 U.S. Open, joining an elite group that still numbers only six players total. Player was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974.

Known as "the Black Knight" and "the International Ambassador of Golf," Player has been equally prolific in course design, with more than 400 projects worldwide. His portfolio includes acclaimed South African designs such as Leopard Creek and the Gary Player Country Club in Rustenburg, as well as notable international works including The Links at Fancourt and The Floridian in Florida. Other prominent designs range from Cougar Point at Kiawah Island and TPC at Jasna Polana in New Jersey to courses across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, demonstrating his truly global reach in golf architecture.

Player has also authored or co-written 36 books on golf instruction, design, philosophy, motivation, and fitness, reinforcing his reputation as an ambassador for the game.
