Trail Course
Mountain Top, PA, USA

Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club sits in the Pocono Mountains region of northeastern Pennsylvania, near Mountain Top in Luzerne County. The course was designed by Ed Ault with involvement from Tom Clark, both architects known for their work on public and resort layouts across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast during the latter decades of the twentieth century. Ault's portfolio includes numerous accessible daily-fee courses that emphasize playability across varied terrain, and his work here reflects the rolling, forested character typical of the Poconos. The routing takes advantage of the natural elevation changes and wooded corridors common to this part of Pennsylvania. Players encounter a mix of uphill and downhill holes, with fairways carved through stands of hardwoods and pines. The layout generally rewards accurate driving and thoughtful course management, as the tree-lined nature of many holes penalizes wayward shots. Water features and bunkers provide additional strategic interest, though the primary defense comes from the terrain itself and the need to position the ball carefully on sloping lies. Blue Ridge Trail serves the local golfing community and visitors to the Pocono region, offering a mountain golf experience without the altitude extremes found farther west. The course fits within the tradition of northeastern woodland designs, where the landscape dictates much of the challenge and the setting provides a forested, seasonal backdrop that changes markedly from spring through autumn.
