Theodore Wirth Course
Golden Valley, MN, USA

Theodore Wirth Golf Course occupies rolling parkland in Golden Valley, a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis. The course takes its name from Theodore Wirth, the influential superintendent of the Minneapolis park system in the early twentieth century who championed the development of public recreational facilities. The property sits within the larger Theodore Wirth Regional Park, which encompasses several hundred acres of woods, wetlands, and open space along the western edge of the city. The course was established in the 1910s and has served as a municipal facility for over a century, making it one of the oldest continuously operating public courses in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The routing moves through mature hardwood forest and across modest elevation changes characteristic of the glacial terrain common to the region. Several holes play along or near natural wetlands and seasonal drainage corridors, while others occupy more open meadow settings with tree-lined fairways. The layout provides a traditional parkland experience accessible to a wide range of golfers, with straightforward hole designs that reward accurate placement over distance. As a municipal course, Theodore Wirth serves a diverse local population and maintains a reputation for affordability and steady conditioning within the constraints of high-volume public play. The facility includes a clubhouse with basic amenities and practice areas. Its location within a larger park system means golfers often share the broader landscape with hikers, mountain bikers, and cross-country skiers depending on the season.

Players have been losing balls here since the inaugural tee shot. Fun course with some great views. Conditions can be hit or miss. Only course I’ve walked off mid round due to slow play. With some investment, I think Teddy could become an awesome place. Great land. Great views. Close to everything. How is there not a range with all that land?
