Rolling Hills Golf Course operates a par-3 layout in Pulaski, a small community in Lawrence County in western Pennsylvania. The course was designed by Richard Kinkela, whose work appears primarily in the western Pennsylvania region. Par-3 courses of this type typically serve as accessible entry points for beginners, practice facilities for experienced players working on their short game, and quick-play options for golfers with limited time. The routing at Rolling Hills likely takes advantage of the area's characteristic rolling terrain, common throughout this part of the Appalachian Plateau region. Western Pennsylvania's topography generally provides natural elevation changes that can create variety in par-3 hole designs, with differing shot angles and green complexes. Courses in this region often feature tree-lined fairways with hardwoods native to the area. Par-3 layouts in smaller Pennsylvania communities often function as family-oriented facilities, offering a relaxed atmosphere and serving local golfers across skill levels. These courses typically range from roughly 1,200 to 2,400 yards in total length, with individual holes varying from short wedge shots to longer iron or hybrid approaches. The format allows for faster rounds than regulation courses while still requiring thoughtful club selection and accurate approach play.
