North Shore Course
Glenview, IL, USA

North Shore Country Club occupies gently rolling terrain in Glenview, a northern suburb of Chicago. The course was designed by Harry S. Colt and C. H. Alison during the golden age of golf architecture in the 1920s, part of the British design team's influential work in the United States. Colt and Alison brought their strategic design philosophy to the property, emphasizing natural contours, thoughtful bunkering, and greens that reward precision and course management. The routing takes advantage of the site's modest elevation changes and mature tree-lined corridors typical of established Chicago-area clubs. Colt's design principles are evident in the placement of hazards to create strategic options from the tee and in the approach shots, where angles and green complexes demand careful planning. The bunkering style reflects the era's aesthetic, with irregular shapes and natural edges that integrate into the landscape rather than appearing manufactured. North Shore Country Club has served as a private club for nearly a century, maintaining its place among the Chicago area's traditional golf communities. The course has undergone periodic updates to preserve playing quality and address modern maintenance standards, though the fundamental character of the Colt-Alison design remains. The club's membership has long been drawn from the North Shore suburbs, and the facility reflects the understated character typical of established Midwestern private clubs. The course provides a representative example of golden age design principles adapted to the Chicago region's landscape and climate.

In great shape from tee boxes to greens. Course is a bit flat with some great bunkering.
A nice golf course with great amenities but doesn’t really set itself apart as an engaging layout in my opinion. Not too beautiful but still very nice and well maintained but good could be better.
