Murrayshall sits within a country estate near Scone, just north of Perth in the heart of Scotland. The course was designed by Hamilton J. Stutt and opened in 1981, making it a relatively modern addition to the region's golfing landscape. The layout occupies parkland terrain characteristic of Perthshire, with mature trees lining fairways and the estate's natural topography providing gentle elevation changes throughout the round. The course measures over 6,400 yards from the back tees and plays as a par 73, an unusual configuration that includes five par threes. The routing takes advantage of the estate's wooded character, requiring accuracy off the tee while offering strategic options for approach play. Water features come into play on several holes, adding both visual interest and tactical considerations. The closing stretch includes a memorable par three at the 17th that plays across water to a well-protected green. Murrayshall functions as part of a country house hotel and golf resort, making it accessible to visitors while maintaining a club atmosphere.
