Hamilton J. Stutt

Hamilton J. Stutt (1924–2008) was a British golf course architect whose work spanned several decades in the mid-to-late 20th century. His design portfolio includes courses across the United Kingdom and continental Europe, with a notable concentration in Scotland and England.

Stutt's most recognized project is the Murrayshall Course at Murrayshall Country Estate & Golf Club near Scone, Scotland, completed in 1981. The layout surrounds a 17th-century house and is complemented by the Lynedoch Course, also part of the estate. Beyond Scotland, his work includes Gleddoch in Port Glasgow and St Cuthberts in Prestwick, as well as courses in England such as Cowes on the Isle of Wight and Lanhydrock in Cornwall. He also designed both the Green and Roja courses at Golf Costa Brava in Spain.

Stutt's designs reflect the parkland and scenic settings typical of British golf architecture from his era, offering accessible yet thoughtful challenges for a range of players.
