Several holes incorporate water hazards, including ponds that come into play on approach shots. The course measures over 7,000 yards from the championship tees, providing length suitable for competitive play while offering multiple tee options for recreational rounds. Heritage Pointe has hosted regional amateur championships and serves as a private club with an active membership drawn largely from Calgary's southern suburbs. The facility includes practice areas and a clubhouse that accommodates member dining and social functions. The course represents a period of golf development in Alberta during the late 1980s when designers worked to create championship-length layouts that could handle the region's variable weather conditions and strong winds.
