Culver Academies Course
Culver, IN, USA

Culver Academies Golf Course is a captivating, almost secretive, vestige of Midwestern golf heritage, meticulously interwoven with the storied boarding school that surrounds it near the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee. The course, a traditional parkland layout, ambles across gently rolling terrain. Though it doesn't demand excessive length, its tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers reward thoughtful shot placement and imaginative approaches to the often deceptively contoured greens. Designed in the early 20th century, the course's original architect is unfortunately, shrouded in some mystery. While the records remain unclear, the design sensibilities of the Golden Age era, when strategic play and natural contours were paramount, are evident. The course has undergone subtle refinements over the years, maintaining its commitment to playability and the preservation of its original character. Culver Academies Golf Course is not known for hosting major championships, instead, it stands as a beloved hub for the academy community and local golfers. Perhaps its greatest treasure lies in its accessibility. Often quiet, it provides a serene and unhurried golfing experience. It remains a place where the game can be enjoyed in its purest form, removed from the spotlight of professional competition, and embraced by those who appreciate its intrinsic qualities. And though not known specifically for it, a proper post-round drink in the clubhouse overlooking the 9th and 18th greens is a must for the full experience.

Simply unbelievable! Culver is everything I want to see in a golf course. Width, Great use of terrain, and amazing greens. If only they built all 27 holes that were designed. Hard not to say that this is the Best 9 Holer in the US!
Simply the best 9 hole course in America. Big, bold land movements. The course feels like a rollercoaster. Unique twists and turns around every corner. Such a great place. Facilities are bare bones, but the golf is so good. Best preserved L&M course there is. People care about this place and it shows. If you have the chance to play, do not pass it up.
