Buffalo Course
Sarver, PA, USA

Buffalo Golf Course occupies rolling terrain in Sarver, a small community in Butler County, Pennsylvania, roughly thirty miles north of Pittsburgh. The course was designed by Harry Waldron and Marge Waldron, a husband-and-wife team who worked primarily in western Pennsylvania during the mid-to-late twentieth century. The Waldrons designed and built several courses in the region, often creating layouts that worked with the natural contours of the land rather than imposing dramatic earthmoving on modest budgets. The routing at Buffalo reflects the topography common to this part of Pennsylvania—gentle to moderate hills, wooded corridors, and seasonal creeks that come into play on certain holes. Courses designed by the Waldrons typically feature straightforward strategic choices suited to recreational golfers, with hazards placed to reward accurate play without overwhelming higher-handicap members. The layout likely incorporates a mix of open and tree-lined holes, taking advantage of elevation changes to create variety in shot requirements. Buffalo Golf Course serves the local golfing community in Butler County, providing an accessible option for residents in the northern Pittsburgh suburbs. The facility operates as a public or semi-private course, typical of many Waldron designs that prioritized playability and maintenance efficiency for smaller operations. The course remains part of the regional golf landscape, offering a straightforward test of the game in a rural Pennsylvania setting.
Not a good course, but a fun course. Open, country style Western PA golf that allows for different shots, is affordable (for a reason) and friendly. Always in pretty solid shape and always amenable and welcoming.
