Carlton Gipson

Carlton Gipson established his reputation as a golf course architect primarily through an extensive body of work in the Houston metropolitan area and surrounding Texas regions. His portfolio demonstrates a particular focus on courses serving the rapidly growing communities west and northwest of Houston during the late 20th century development boom.

Gipson's most notable designs include the Tournament course at The Woodlands Country Club and multiple configurations at Pine Forest Country Club in Houston, where his Gold/White combination has earned recognition among Texas golf circles. His work extends across diverse settings, from the coastal Galveston Country Club and Moody Gardens Golf Club in Galveston to inland layouts like Jersey Meadow Golf Club and the municipal Hermann Park Golf Course in Houston. He also designed courses for master-planned communities including Cinco Ranch, Pecan Grove Plantation, and Greatwood as suburban development expanded through Fort Bend and Harris counties.
