Forest Hills Golf & Country Club

Forest Hills Golf & Country Club's Valley Course sits in Chesterfield, a western suburb of St. Louis, on rolling terrain characteristic of the region's transition between the Missouri River bottomlands and the Ozark foothills. Chic Adams designed the original layout, which was later renovated by Keith Foster, a St. Louis native whose work includes restorations of classic American courses and who brings particular sensitivity to Midwestern golf architecture. The course takes its name from the property's natural topography, which features elevation changes and wooded corridors that frame the holes. The routing moves through mature hardwood forests and across open meadow areas, creating variety in both playing character and visual setting. Water features come into play on several holes, typical of courses built in this era in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Foster's renovation work likely focused on modernizing bunker complexes, refining green contours, and adjusting playing lengths to accommodate contemporary equipment while respecting Adams's original design intent. The course serves as one of two eighteenth-hole layouts at Forest Hills, the other being the Hills Course, giving members substantial variety in their regular play. The club maintains a traditional country club atmosphere common to established St. Louis-area private clubs, with the Valley Course providing a distinct routing and strategic challenge from its companion layout.
