Dun Laoghaire Golf Club's Upper Course sits in the hills above Enniskerry in County Wicklow, occupying elevated terrain that offers views across the surrounding countryside toward the Irish Sea. The club relocated to this site in the 1990s after outgrowing its original coastal location in Dun Laoghaire town, and Martin Hawtree designed the layout to work with the natural contours and mature woodland of the property. The course plays across rolling parkland with significant elevation changes throughout the round. Several holes move through corridors of established trees, while others open to more exposed high ground where the wind becomes a factor. The routing takes advantage of the topography, with tee shots often played from elevated positions and approach shots requiring careful club selection to account for uphill and downhill lies. The greens are well-contoured and defended by strategic bunkering typical of Hawtree's design approach. Dun Laoghaire Golf Club maintains a traditional members' club atmosphere, serving the south Dublin and Wicklow golfing community. The Upper Course represents the club's main championship layout, complemented by a shorter nine-hole course on the property. The setting in Enniskerry places it near other notable Wicklow courses and within reach of Dublin, making it part of the region's parkland golf offering.
