TROY BURNE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Hudson, WI, USA
Designed by Dana Fry, Dr. Michael Hurdzan, Tom Lehman

Troy Burne Golf Club sits in Hudson, Wisconsin, along the bluffs overlooking the St. Croix River valley near the Minnesota border. The course opened in 2001 as a collaboration between PGA Tour professional Tom Lehman, who grew up in Minnesota, and the design team of Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry. The partnership brought together Lehman's competitive insights with Hurdzan and Fry's established expertise in creating championship-caliber layouts that work within natural terrain.
The routing takes advantage of significant elevation changes across the property, moving through wooded corridors and open meadowlands with views across the river valley. The design incorporates substantial earth movement to create dramatic features while maintaining playability for a range of skill levels. Strategic bunkering and green complexes reflect the design team's emphasis on shot values and risk-reward decision-making throughout the round.
Troy Burne operates as a daily-fee facility and has hosted various regional amateur and professional events since opening. The course has appeared on state and regional rankings and serves as a notable public-access option in the western Wisconsin golf market. The property includes practice facilities and a clubhouse that takes advantage of the elevated setting. The course represents one of several collaborations between Lehman and the Hurdzan-Fry partnership during the late 1990s and early 2000s, when the Tour player brought his competitive perspective to their design process.
Reviews
Pure conditions. Fun course with good mixture of hole types. Only complaint is hole #2 poor design nowhere to hit tee shot without leaving long forced carry and trouble everywhere.
Probably the most picturesque golf course I’ve played which is crazy considering the lack of local scenery. Phenomenal conditions and great layout.
I used to think the world of this course. It is beautiful and the routing is a lot of fun, but it has a few flaws that now annoy me. Easy course to take driver out of hand. Bunkers stink and Rain kills it and the rough is an insane level which I don’t really care about other then the fact that it is public and slows the rounds down like crazy. I still always play here around twice a year to get my rocks off.
A resort course with no resort. Some lovely par 3’s.
Conditions leave a little bit to be desired. Uneven tee boxes everywhere, greens are always super soft. Back nine is very good but still leaves a little bit to be desired overall.
