The Rose Course
Matawan, NJ, USA

The Rose at Old Bridge, carved from the rolling farmland of Matawan, New Jersey, presents a classic, unpretentious golfing experience steeped in local history. Its layout, while not commanding national attention, offers a challenging and enjoyable round reflecting its origins. This predominantly parkland-style course, originally conceived in the mid-20th century, winds through mature trees and gently undulating terrain. Fairways, while generous in places, can tighten considerably, rewarding strategic play and punishing errant shots. The course has subtle doglegs and well-placed bunkers that demand careful consideration of club selection. While not overly long, the course places a premium on accuracy and approach shots. Over the years, The Rose has become a beloved hub for the local golfing community. It's known for its accessible atmosphere and unpretentious charm, with players favoring a traditional "member for a day" mentality. Post-round, the clubhouse is equally known for its home-style sandwiches.

Old Bridge is a very fun new public course in Central NJ. The conditions are solid and the layout is fun. A good mix of some short and long holes with a few modern takes on some of the historic templates.
Fun layout with awesome template holes. Always in great shape. Fast greens
