Rotonda Golf & Country Club

The Palms at Rotonda Golf & Country Club is one of five courses within the Rotonda West development in southwest Florida, designed by D. J. DeVictor. Rotonda West was conceived in the late 1960s and early 1970s as a master-planned community built around golf, with courses arranged in a distinctive circular pattern visible from aerial views. DeVictor, who worked on several Florida residential courses during this era, designed layouts that accommodate the flat, low-lying terrain characteristic of the Gulf Coast region while integrating water features and native vegetation. The course reflects typical southwest Florida golf architecture from its period, with water hazards playing a prominent role on many holes and palm trees defining corridors and framing greens. The routing works through residential areas, with homes lining fairways in the manner common to community courses of this type. Elevation change is minimal, as is standard for courses built on reclaimed or naturally flat coastal land, placing emphasis on strategic bunkering and water placement rather than dramatic topography. Rotonda Golf & Country Club operates as a semi-private facility, serving both members and outside play.
