South at NCR Country Club

The South Course at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, was designed by Dick Wilson and opened in 1954. Wilson, known for his work throughout the eastern United States and Florida during the mid-twentieth century, created a layout that complements the club's original North Course. NCR Country Club takes its name from the National Cash Register Company, whose executives founded the club in the early 1950s as a private retreat for business and recreation in the Dayton suburbs.

The South Course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of southwestern Ohio, with mature tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers that reflect Wilson's design philosophy of rewarding accuracy and course management. The routing incorporates natural elevation changes and several water features that come into play on multiple holes. Wilson's bunker style—typically deep with distinct shapes—remains evident throughout the layout, creating both visual interest and strategic challenge around greens and landing areas.

NCR Country Club maintains a traditional private club atmosphere rooted in its corporate origins, though membership has evolved beyond its initial NCR employee base. The club has hosted various regional amateur competitions over the decades, serving as a respected venue within Ohio golf circles. The South Course operates alongside the North Course to provide members with variety in their regular play, with the South generally considered the more demanding test of the two layouts.
