Rumson Course
Rumson, NJ, USA

Rumson Country Club, nestled in the heart of New Jersey's affluent Rumson area, possesses a timeless charm cultivated over a century, known for its strong and tenured membership. The course, a largely understated layout, quietly provides its exclusive community with a sporting retreat and social pillar. The original 1908 layout, shaped by Herbert Strong, features a classic parkland design threading through gently rolling terrain, favoring those who can work the ball with subtle fades. While not overly long, it rewards strategic placement and thoughtful approach shots. Subsequent updates, handled respectfully over the years, have ensured its playability for the modern game without sacrificing its old-world character. Rumson Country Club maintains a regional presence as a highly respected club known to the Jersey Shore, with a quiet membership who value privacy and tradition. Post-round, members gather, often enjoying the club's famed Manhattan Clam Chowder, a staple that reflects the area's rich coastal heritage.

Great course for beginners and most golfers. For longer hitters and competitive players it is too simple. Not an inch of elevation on the course and a pretty ok layout. A few holes here and there make you love it and make you question the course, but overall it’s a short private course that’s well kept but doesn’t challenge most. Good views and you’re always in for a breeze!
Course you can play everyday. Great conditions and extremely walkable.
My intro to east coast golf…like losing your virginity to 1980s Meg Ryan 🤌🏻
