Rivermont Course
Johns Creek, GA, USA

Rivermont, carved into the rolling landscape of Alpharetta, embodies a distinct Atlanta-area golfing experience, demanding strategic play across its undulating fairways and subtly contoured greens. Designed by Arthur Hills during the boom of golf course construction in the late 1980s, Rivermont presents a challenging yet fair test for players of all skill levels. The course favors those who can shape their shots, with strategically placed bunkers and water hazards dictating precise approach play. While Rivermont hasn't hosted any major professional championships, it remains a popular venue for local and regional tournaments, prized for its playability and well-maintained conditions. Its relatively understated profile among the region’s more storied clubs reflects the club’s focus on providing a strong everyday golf experience for its members. Rivermont’s appeal lies not just in its challenging layout, but also in its welcoming atmosphere. Known for its active men's and women's golf associations, the club fosters a strong sense of community, with members frequently gathering for friendly competitions and social events. The nineteenth hole, a fixture of local Alpharetta lore, is known for its post-round storytelling and lively banter, and its noted halfway house's pimento cheese sandwiches.

Unique and fun, a little quirky and not pristine conditions
In my opinion, not a weak hole on the course. Lots of strategy and difficulty. Greens have tons of character. Not the fastest but that allows for actual fun greens, thank god. The layout and variety of holes is where rivermont shines. If they had the budget as a “top” course it would easily be top 5 in the metro Atlanta area, based only on the quality of the golf and course. Definitely the best value membership around.
