Joe Lee built a prolific career as a golf course architect with a concentrated focus on the southeastern United States, particularly Florida and Georgia. His portfolio spans more than a century's worth of designs, ranging from private country clubs to resort destinations. Lee's work is characterized by thoughtful routing that responds to natural terrain, strategic bunkering, and layouts accessible to a wide range of player abilities.
Among his notable designs are the Bellemeade/Plantation course at Valdosta Country Club in Georgia, the Woodfield layout at Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton, and the North course at Cherokee Town & Country Club in Atlanta. His Florida work includes The Rookery at Marco, Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club in Boca Raton, and several courses at Disney's Lake Buena Vista complex. Lee also designed Cog Hill's Dubsdread course in Illinois and layouts at properties ranging from California's Del Mar Country Club to resort courses in the Bahamas and Portugal.
