Riddell's Bay Golf & Country Club

Riddell's Bay Golf & Country Club occupies a peninsula on Bermuda's Great Sound in Warwick Parish, making it the oldest course on the island. Devereux Emmet designed the original layout in 1922, establishing a routing that takes full advantage of the property's coastal setting and natural limestone terrain. Ed Beidel later contributed refinements to the design. The course measures modest by contemporary standards, reflecting both its golden-age origins and the constraints of its peninsula site, but the compact routing creates an intimate relationship with the surrounding water. The layout plays across gently rolling terrain characteristic of Bermuda's coral limestone foundation, with several holes running along the shoreline of the Great Sound. Water comes into play on multiple holes, and the prevailing winds off the Atlantic add strategic complexity to club selection and shot-making. The course features Bermuda grass throughout, and the property's mature vegetation and water views provide the distinctive island atmosphere that defines golf in this mid-Atlantic location. Riddell's Bay functions as a private club with a membership that includes both Bermudian residents and international members.
