Fairbanks Ranch Country Club sits in the rolling hills of Rancho Santa Fe, an affluent enclave in San Diego's North County known for its eucalyptus groves and equestrian estates. The club features two eighteen-hole courses designed by Ted Robinson Jr., who completed the layouts in the early 1980s as part of a master-planned residential community. The Ocean and Valley nines can be combined with the club's Ranch nine in various rotations, offering members different playing experiences across the property's varied terrain. Robinson's design work here reflects the natural topography of the site, with fairways that move through canyons and across ridgelines characteristic of Southern California's coastal foothills. The Ocean nine takes its name from distant Pacific views available from elevated holes, while the Valley routing occupies lower ground with more pronounced elevation changes and tighter corridors. Water features appear throughout the course, a signature element in Robinson's portfolio, requiring strategic decisions on approach shots and around the greens. The club operates as a private equity facility serving the Fairbanks Ranch community and maintains a traditional country club atmosphere with full amenities. Rancho Santa Fe's Mediterranean climate allows for year-round golf, and the courses benefit from the region's mild temperatures and minimal rainfall. The layout accommodates a range of skill levels while providing enough length and challenge for competitive play among the membership.
