North Wales Golf Club

North Wales Golf Club sits on the West Shore of Llandudno, occupying a narrow strip of linksland between the town and the Conwy Estuary. Established in 1894, the course was laid out by Tancred Cummins, a professional golfer and course designer active in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. The routing takes advantage of natural duneland and runs along relatively flat terrain with views across the water toward Anglesey and the mountains of Snowdonia in the distance. The course measures just over 6,200 yards from the back tees and plays as a par 71. The layout features several short par fours and a mix of longer two-shot holes where wind off the estuary becomes the primary defense. The greens are typically firm and fast, characteristic of traditional links turf, and the bunkering reflects the straightforward style of early British course architecture. Several holes run parallel to the shoreline, and the exposed setting means conditions can change quickly depending on weather patterns moving in from the Irish Sea. North Wales Golf Club has hosted regional amateur competitions and Welsh championships over the years. The club maintains a traditional members' culture, and the clubhouse overlooks the course and estuary. The West Shore location places it slightly apart from the busier Victorian resort center of Llandudno, offering a quieter seaside golf experience within the broader North Wales coastal golfing region that includes courses at Conwy and Caernarfon.
