Mt. Hawley Country Club Course

Mt. Hawley Country Club sits in the northern part of Peoria, Illinois, occupying rolling terrain characteristic of central Illinois golf courses. The club was established in the mid-20th century and serves as a traditional private country club for the Peoria community. The course layout takes advantage of the property's natural elevation changes, which are more pronounced than typical prairie courses in the region, giving the routing its name and providing variety in shot requirements and sightlines. The design features tree-lined fairways with mature hardwoods framing many holes, along with strategically placed bunkers and water hazards that come into play on several holes. The routing moves across the property's hills and valleys, creating a mix of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies that demand thoughtful club selection and course management. Greens are typically elevated and well-protected, reflecting mid-century design principles common to Midwest private clubs of this era. As a private club, Mt. Hawley serves its membership with traditional country club amenities including dining facilities and social programming. The course hosts member competitions and club championships throughout the season. The club maintains its position as one of the established private golf facilities in the greater Peoria area, offering members a familiar parkland-style layout that emphasizes accuracy and local knowledge over pure length.

Probably my favorite country club in the Peoria area. They just re did all the bunkers and it has made it so much better! If this was able to be stretched to a “Championship” course it would probably be the best course in the area. Peak conditions are so good and anytime I get the chance to play I do! About 6,400 yards from the back tees and not much of a driving range but such a cool course packed into a small piece of land.
