Horsley Lodge Golf Club

Horsley Lodge is Derbyshire parkland golf, subtly defiant against the regions rolling hills. The course, routed across what was once farmland just north of Derby, presents a classic inland challenge. Wide fairways, subtly contoured, encourage aggressive tee shots, however, waywardness is penalised by mature trees lining each hole. The original design, while not attributed to a renowned architect, has been thoughtfully refined over the years, the bent grass greens, receptive to approach shots, often feature subtle borrows that frustrate even the most seasoned players. The 18th, a par-4 with a demanding approach shot over water, has seen its fair share of heartache, and joy, defining many a club championship. Horsley Lodge has remained a well-regarded fixture in the local golfing landscape for years. More than just the golf, the club's baronial stone manor house, now a hotel, offers a warm respite to weary golfers where the famous Sunday Carvery is an institution, drawing members and visitors alike.
