Greenhorn Creek Resort Golf Club

Greenhorn Creek sits in the Sierra Nevada foothills near Angels Camp, a historic Gold Rush town in Calaveras County. Robert Trent Jones, Jr. collaborated with Don Boos on the design, which opened in the late 1990s as part of a resort development. The course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the Mother Lode region, with elevation changes and native oak woodlands framing many holes. The routing takes advantage of the natural topography, moving through valleys and across ridgelines. Players encounter a mix of open and tree-lined holes, with strategic bunkering and water features that come into play on several holes. The design incorporates Jones's signature style of creating multiple tee options to accommodate different skill levels, while the fairways and greens reflect the contours of the land. The course serves both resort guests and public play, drawing golfers from the Central Valley and the greater Sacramento area. Angels Camp's elevation provides a moderate climate compared to the valley floor, making the course playable much of the year. The setting offers views of the surrounding foothills and maintains the rural character of the region, with oak trees and native grasses defining the landscape between holes.
