Thompson's design makes use of the property's natural elevation changes and wooded corridors, creating a parkland layout that moves through stands of spruce and maple. The routing features several holes that play along ridgelines and others that descend into small valleys, with the architect's trademark bunkering style—large, flowing sand hazards with irregular edges—evident throughout. Thomas McBroom later undertook renovation work to update and restore elements of the course while preserving Thompson's original design intent.
