Grand Lake Golf Club

Grand Lake Golf Club sits in Montgomery, Texas, roughly forty miles north of Houston in the piney woods region that characterizes much of East Texas. The course was designed by Gary Player in collaboration with Jeffery D. Blume and opened as part of a residential community development. Player, the South African major champion turned prolific course architect, has designed numerous layouts across the United States, often working with associates like Blume to adapt his design principles to local terrain and client needs. The routing takes advantage of the area's natural topography, which features rolling terrain, mature pine and hardwood forests, and several lakes that come into play on multiple holes. Water hazards figure prominently in the strategic design, requiring golfers to make calculated decisions off the tee and on approach shots.
