Played from 6400 tees for my first round. Too short but fun. Probably lost a couple strokes as a result but played to mybindex overall. Lots of centerline bunkers or strategic tree placement in fairways or blocking one side or the other. Dont think i hit a fairway shot off a flat stance. Greens heavily undulating with specific shelves. 8 might be my favorite hole. One big negative is hole 18 and the forced double layup. I hit 4i, 4i, wedge for par.
Half way house was dope and conditions were pure
The Covey is a championship style course in the Hill Country of Texas. A vast variety of holes that make it a ton of fun. Dog leg rights, dog leg lefts, driveable par 4, true 3 shot par 5 and a ton of undulation from tee to green. The greens are pure and tough. You have to be in the right section and if you don’t hit good approach shots you can end up 30-40 yards back down the hill. A fantastic property, a great relaxed atmosphere and the food is amazing. Great people, great golf and just the best experience
it’s like playing golf in the carolina’s, but you’re in texas hill country. immaculate conditions, tons of pine tree lined holes with the straw to match, but on a “every thing is bigger in texas” scale. great views, some very very challenging holes, but tons of fun and creativity to be had, which is what i love in a course. zoysia EVERYWHERE makes for some lush lush grass, and a ton of fun.
What a fun course. Fished before the round on property too as it is also a hunting club. ricky the gm is one of the nicest guys around

The journey to Big Easy Ranch begins at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), roughly an hour's drive northwest through the gently rolling prairie country of the Texas Coastal Plain. The route traces Interstate 10 west before peeling off into the quieter farm-to-market roads that define this corner of Colorado County, where the urban sprawl of Houston gives way to vast cattle pastures, live oak mottes, and the occasional windmill turning lazily against the sky. For those arriving by private aircraft, the ranch maintains its own airstrip on property - a fitting gesture of discretion for a destination that prizes seclusion and the unhurried rhythms of Texas ranch life.
