Glaze Meadow is one of two eighteen-hole courses at Black Butte Ranch, a resort and residential community in central Oregon near the town of Sisters. The course was originally designed by Gene "Bunny" Mason and opened in 1971, then later renovated by John Fought to refine its strategic character and update its conditioning standards. The layout occupies meadowland terrain at roughly 3,200 feet elevation, with views toward the Cascade Range including the Three Sisters peaks. The routing moves through ponderosa pine forests and open meadow corridors, creating a mix of tree-lined and exposed holes. Water features appear on several holes, and the relatively flat terrain allows for walkable golf despite the high-desert setting. The course plays shorter than many modern resort layouts, emphasizing accuracy and course management over pure length. Fought's renovation work focused on restoring strategic options and improving green complexes to reward thoughtful play. Black Butte Ranch serves both resort guests and property owners, with a relaxed atmosphere typical of Pacific Northwest mountain golf communities. The facility includes practice areas, dining, and lodging, and the property is known for its access to outdoor recreation beyond golf, including hiking and cycling trails through the surrounding national forest land.
