El Caballero Course
Tarzana, CA, USA

El Caballero Country Club, nestled in the heart of Tarzana, is a quintessential example of mid-century Californian golf course design, its rolling fairways a verdant oasis amidst the surrounding San Fernando Valley landscape. The course isn't especially known for demanding length, but rather rewards strategic shot-making and a deft touch around its subtly contoured greens, favoring players who can navigate its doglegs with precision. Originally crafted in the late 1950s, El Caballero has seen the influence of several architects over the years, subtly refining its strategic challenges. While not a stage for major professional championships, the club has played host to numerous regional and local tournaments, solidifying its place as a respected competitive venue within Southern California. Beyond the course, El Caballero boasts a vibrant membership, known for their love of the game and a relaxed, convivial atmosphere. The club remains a beloved fixture of the Tarzana community, a testament to its enduring appeal as both a challenging golfing experience and a welcoming social hub. Many credit the club's staying power to its casual but classic dining and the ever-popular El Cab Burger.

Great Hilly Country Club out in LA-the greens have very cool contours and play crispy and firm-don’t short side yourself unless you have good hands. Backs up to a tough 7000 rated 74.6 and is a great challenge for golfers with accuracy and spin control, but maybe a bit more challenging for those without distance. Robert Trent Jones did a solid job here
El Cab is an under-the-radar hidden gem in the LA area. Play it if you can. Fast greens, solid layout, with some challenging holes. Faders will play well.
