Delgany Golf Club

Delgany Golf Club sits in County Wicklow, roughly twenty miles south of Dublin, in terrain that blends parkland character with views toward the Irish Sea and the Wicklow Mountains. The course was originally laid out by Harry Vardon in 1908, during a period when the six-time Open Champion designed or advised on several Irish layouts. Patrick Merrigan later contributed modifications that shaped the modern routing. The land occupies elevated ground above the village of Delgany, and the course moves through mature woodland and open fairways with natural elevation changes that define the playing corridors and create variety in stance and approach. The layout measures around 5,600 meters from the back tees and plays as a par 69, an unusual total that reflects the mix of par threes and fours with limited par fives. The routing takes advantage of the hillside topography, with several holes playing uphill or downhill and others offering broader views across the surrounding countryside. Tree-lined fairways demand accuracy from the tee, and the greens are typically small and subtly contoured, rewarding precise iron play. The course has a traditional parkland feel, with the natural landscape dictating strategy rather than heavy bunkering or water features. Delgany Golf Club has served as a members' club for over a century, with a reputation for welcoming play and a straightforward, unpretentious atmosphere.
