Avington Park Golf Course occupies the grounds of Avington Park, a historic estate near Winchester in Hampshire. The course was designed by Robert Stent and is laid out across parkland that forms part of the wider estate landscape. The setting combines mature trees, open fairways, and water features typical of English parkland golf, with the routing taking advantage of the natural topography and existing estate features. The course plays through a mix of woodland and more open terrain, with several holes working around the estate's established trees and water elements. The parkland character means that while the course is relatively accessible, strategic placement of hazards and the need to navigate around mature specimens creates interest without extreme difficulty. The design reflects Stent's approach to working within existing landscapes rather than imposing dramatic earthworks. Avington Park serves primarily as a private members' club and is not widely known outside the local Hampshire golfing community. The course offers a traditional English club experience rooted in its estate setting. Like many parkland courses in southern England, it provides a pleasant day's golf in a historic landscape, with the appeal lying in the combination of solid design, natural beauty, and the character of the grounds themselves rather than in championship difficulty or major tournament history.
