PUMPKIN RIDGE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 North Plains, OR, USA
Designed by Bob Cupp

Witch Hollow at Pumpkin Ridge isn’t just a golf course; it's a Pacific Northwest testament to championship aspirations. Carved into the rolling farmland outside of North Plains, Oregon, the course bears the hallmarks of late 20th-century design: generous fairways that belie the strategic demands placed on approach shots. This is a course that tempts boldness from the tee, but rewards calculated risk in the face of demanding greens.
Designed by Bob Cupp, with significant influence from John Fought, Witch Hollow delivers a stern test, despite its seemingly benevolent width. The greens, often firm and undulating, are the course’s primary defense, demanding exacting iron play and a deft touch with the putter. While the course has not hosted a major championship of the scale of its sister course, Ghost Creek, it remains a respected venue for regional and national amateur events.
While not as heralded as some of the nation’s more iconic courses, Witch Hollow stands as a well-regarded public course where everyday golfers can find a great golf experience. After the round, golfers often gather for a post-game bite to eat with a robust BBQ and locally brewed beer, a tradition deeply embedded in the club's ethos.
Reviews
When it’s in peak condition it’s one of the very best course in the northwest, and I think, the best in Portland. Hasn’t been the case lately though. Layout is fantastic. Lots of variety in holes, length, green sizes etc. Good modern history, and absolutely worth trying to play. Let’s just hope ownership starts treating it with the care it deserves.
