Wild Rock Course
Wisconsin Dells, WI, USA

Wild Rock Golf Club opened in 1995 in Wisconsin Dells, designed by Dana Fry during his partnership with noted architect Tom Doak. The course occupies a distinctive property in central Wisconsin characterized by dramatic rock outcroppings, dense woodlands, and significant elevation changes uncommon in the region. The routing takes advantage of natural sandstone formations and glacial terrain that give the course its name and visual character. The layout moves through varied topography, with holes carved through corridors of pine and hardwood forest and others playing across more open, rolling terrain. The rock features appear throughout the round, sometimes framing fairways or greens, other times serving as natural hazards or visual landmarks. The design emphasizes strategic options rather than forced carries, with multiple routes available on many holes depending on skill level and risk tolerance. Wild Rock serves as a daily-fee facility in a region known primarily for tourism and family entertainment rather than golf. The course provides a contrast to the area's water parks and attractions, offering a more rugged and natural golf experience. The property's terrain and Fry's design approach create a layout that feels distinct from typical Midwestern parkland courses, with the rock formations and elevation providing both challenge and scenic interest throughout the round.

Golfers say Wild Rock delivers strong value and an engaging layout, with most praising its playable yet interesting design, fun greens, and stellar views throughout the routing. Reviewers note that recent bunker renovations have improved the course significantly, and several highlight it as potentially the best public option in the Wisconsin Dells area at around $70 with cart. However, some recent visitors report disappointing conditions, particularly half-dead greens, and express frustration that full rates are still charged despite the decline, though they hope the course can return to its former top-tier status.

Wild rock was absolutely stellar. I went in with hardly any expectations and was blown away. Stellar views, mint conditions, and the course is just so playable without being boring or easy
They just redid all of the bunkers and it improved this course alot. Last time I played it was 70$ including cart. This could be the best value in WI
Super fun greens, cool routing with some great views
Couple of Dead greens and should not be charging the full price rate for it. Sad and hope they can get it back as this used to be top course in area!
I have heard recently that conditions are not as good this year as recent years, greens are half dead and they’re still charging full price. However, if they aren’t in bad condition, this is the best public in the Dells area
