Whistler Golf Club

Whistler Golf Club sits in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, approximately two hours north of Vancouver in the resort community of Whistler. The course was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in the early 1980s, part of the development that transformed Whistler from a ski destination into a year-round resort. The layout occupies relatively flat terrain along the valley floor, bordered by dense forest and framed by mountain views that include Whistler and Blackcomb peaks. The design works within the natural corridor of the valley, with holes routed through stands of cedar, fir, and hemlock. Several holes play alongside Fitzsimmons Creek, which comes into play on multiple occasions and adds both visual interest and strategic consequence to approach shots. The course measures over 6,700 yards from the back tees and features large, undulating greens that reflect Palmer's design preferences. Bunkers are positioned to challenge tee shots on the longer par fours and frame green complexes throughout the round. The club operates as a semi-private facility, welcoming resort guests and daily-fee players during the golf season, which typically runs from late spring through early fall depending on weather conditions. The clubhouse provides mountain lodge atmosphere consistent with Whistler's resort character. The course serves both destination golfers visiting the area and local players, offering a traditional tree-lined layout in a mountain setting that contrasts with the more dramatic elevation changes found at some other courses in British Columbia's interior and mountain regions.
