Wenvoe Castle Golf Club occupies parkland terrain in the Vale of Glamorgan, a few miles southwest of Cardiff. The course was designed by C. K. Cotton with involvement from James Braid, both prominent figures in early twentieth-century British golf architecture. Braid, a five-time Open Championship winner who designed or remodeled hundreds of courses across Britain, brought his characteristic emphasis on strategic bunkering and natural land use to the layout. The club takes its name from the historic Wenvoe Castle estate, though the castle itself no longer stands on the property. The course unfolds across gently rolling countryside typical of the Vale, with mature tree-lined fairways and views toward the Bristol Channel in the distance. The routing makes use of the natural contours without severe elevation changes, offering a traditional parkland test that rewards accurate driving and approach play. Several holes incorporate the remnants of the estate's landscaping, including specimen trees and hedgerows that frame playing corridors and define strategic angles. Wenvoe Castle serves as a members' club with a local and regional membership base. The course has hosted various Welsh regional competitions and qualifiers over the decades, maintaining its place within the fabric of Welsh golf. The clubhouse and facilities reflect the club's long-standing presence in the area, providing a traditional setting for golf in South Wales.
