Vancouver Golf Club occupies a forested hillside site in Coquitlam, roughly 30 kilometers east of downtown Vancouver. H.T. "Mike" Gardner designed the course, which opened in 1948 after the club relocated from its original Jericho Beach location. Fairways are typically tree-lined and relatively narrow by modern standards, placing emphasis on accuracy from the tee. The greens tend to be modestly sized with subtle internal contours, characteristic of Gardner's design approach and the era in which the course was built. Several holes play across or along natural ravines that cut through the property, introducing both strategic interest and dramatic drops in elevation. The club has hosted numerous regional and provincial championships over the decades, serving as a regular venue for British Columbia Golf events. The membership maintains a traditional private club culture, and the course conditioning reflects careful stewardship of the mature tree canopy and native understory.
