TPC at Southwind Course
Memphis, TN, USA

TPC at Southwind opened in 1988 as the permanent home of the FedEx St. Jude Championship (formerly known as the St. Jude Classic and FedEx St. Jude Invitational), one of the PGA Tour's regular-season events. Designed by Ron Prichard with input from Hubert Green, the course was built on relatively flat terrain in southeast Memphis and incorporates significant water features throughout the routing. The design philosophy emphasizes strategic shot-making rather than overwhelming length, with water hazards coming into play on eleven holes and creating risk-reward decisions on approach shots and around the greens. The layout features Bermuda fairways and bentgrass greens, a combination that performs well in the Memphis climate and provides consistent playing surfaces during the tournament's summer date. The course's most recognizable stretch includes the closing holes, where water pressures tee shots and approaches and has produced dramatic finishes in professional competition. The par-three 14th hole, with its island green surrounded by spectator mounding, serves as a signature feature and pivotal point in tournament play. TPC at Southwind has hosted numerous PGA Tour events and has seen winners including Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Brooks Koepka. The course underwent renovations in the mid-2010s to modernize its infrastructure and adjust to advances in equipment technology. As a TPC facility, it operates as a semi-private club with public access available, serving both members and daily-fee players while maintaining tournament-ready conditions throughout the year.
