The Club Renaissance

The Renaissance is a Chip Powell design located in Sun City Center, a large retirement community in Hillsborough County, roughly midway between Tampa and Sarasota on Florida's Gulf Coast. Powell, a Florida-based architect who has worked extensively in the state, crafted this course to serve the active adult population that defines Sun City Center, balancing playability with strategic interest across a relatively flat landscape typical of west-central Florida. The routing takes advantage of the area's natural wetlands, lakes, and preserved pine and palmetto vegetation, creating distinct corridors and water hazards that come into play on multiple holes. The design emphasizes wide fairways and generous landing areas while incorporating strategic bunkering and water placement that rewards accurate approach shots. As part of the Sun City Center community infrastructure, The Renaissance serves a membership drawn primarily from the area's retirees, many of whom relocated to Florida for year-round golf.
