The Quarry Golf Club

The Quarry Golf Club stands as a testament to imaginative repurposing, carved from the remnants of a 100-year-old cement plant north of downtown San Antonio. Pete Dye ingeniously integrated the industrial artifacts and dramatic limestone cliffs into the course design, creating a visually striking and strategically challenging playing field that opened in 1993. The front nine winds through a more traditional, tree-lined landscape. However, the course dramatically transforms on the back nine, plunging into the heart of the old quarry. This section features tight fairways, imposing rock walls that loom over tee boxes and greens, and the constant reminder of the site’s unique past. A course that does not favor any specific style but rewards course management. Pete Dye’s son, Perry, has been involved in renovations over the years to sustain its playability and charm. While not a mainstay on professional tour circuits, The Quarry has hosted various regional and amateur events, cementing its place as a respected and popular golfing destination in central Texas. Members appreciate the club for its challenging layout, distinctive scenery, and the camaraderie found amidst the echoes of industrial history.
